CLP make WISE choice
08 Dec 2011
In January of 2011, Hong Kong-based CLP Group, one of the largest investor-operator of power assets in the Asia-Pacific region, commissioned WISE Sentinel to manage the data services for its solar monitoring installations. The tasks that WISE has performed to date include:
1. Collecting and cleaning historic solar data dating from October 2009 on behalf of CLP.
2. Monitoring and reporting data from 4 solar installations in various South East Asian countries.
CLP has been operating for over a hundred years and the Group is committed to powering Asia responsibly. In 2007, CLP declared its Climate Vision 2050, which mapped out its roadmap to progressively lower the carbon intensity of its generation portfolio. In 2010, CLP met its first milestone in that journey by lowering the carbon intensity of its generation portfolio to 0.8 CO2/kWh or an approximate 5% reduction from 2007. This is partly attributable to the growth of the company's renewable energy portfolio which accounted for 16.8% of the group's portfolio as of end-2010. The monitoring of available solar resources is an integral part of seeing that solar power will continue to have a role in the company's portfolio.
