WISE has been working in partnership with a research and design group to provide one of the worlds first accurate soil respiration monitoring devices. The unit is in the last stages of research and WISE will be hoping to present its first operational prototype for BETA testing by July 2011.
A CSCMS or Continuous Soil Carbon Monitoring System is a sensing technology designed to fill the hole in accurate and continuous measurement of soil respiration.
The unit actively measures CO2, NOx, O2 and Methane respiration in soil. It also samples temperature and moisture levels in the soil. The outcome of continuously measuring these fields is to validate gas emission and sequestration figures for the global Carbon market.
